| Strengths & Weaknesses | Doing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Jonathan. Sobering placed before him is never abandoned simply because it’s become boring or even a challenge, especially when it’s the right thing to do. Being strong-willed is a great asset in this mindset. It also means he is willing to defend his ideas and principles relentlessly. And at times he has to be reminded that there are shades of gray beyond his own views in order to budge. Jonathan has a need to feel respected by his fellow crew members and has earned the respect of his superiors often to the point where he may question his own worth in private. While he may appear relaxed during his downtime more often than not he expands a considerable amount of energy to socialize with others. And this often leads to one of his greatest flaws. Often The Cited of Security finds himself having difficulty expressing emotion or feeling empathy for others at times. He tends to fry so caught up in facts, keeping order, etc that he forgets the human factor at times. While a detour to an uncharted nebula might be breathtakingly beautiful often times it might not catch up to him until an hour later. |

| Personal History | Jonathan Walking Bear was born on December 07, 2226 to Michael Walking Bear and Monica Watts in Billings, Montana on Earth. Jonathan was a middle child and his family traced its roots back to the Plains Indian Tribes of the Native American people who called North America home long before others settled there. His parents had their third child, his sister, Hannah, when he was five. All of the Walking Bear children wear extremely competitive as most siblings tend to be, and would often get into arguments with each other over trivial matters, especially during their earlier years. And more often than not Jonathan served as the peacekeeper every time an argument broke out. As they grew older, however, they began to get along much more easily; helped mostly by the influence of the traditions their parents surrounded them with and the encouragement they were given to discover their own paths at the same time as well. During this time Jonathan had become close to his older brother, Daniel; the thinker in the family, who always seemed to be staring off into the stars as if trying to look into his future. His father was a dedicated shipyard engineer, having spent the majority of his life building shuttlecraft and his mother was an archeologist who constantly traveled. Each introduced their loves to the children just as they had their traditions and family heritage. It also meant occasionally the Walking Bear family getting to go on expeditions or visiting the shipyards to see spaceships and shuttlecraft (primarily) being built. And while both seemed to take their holds over his siblings Jonathan always seemed to long for something else. Often he could be found still participating in Okichitaw tournaments or reading the latest action novel that came across the Federation databanks. His brother Daniel was the first to join Starfleet Academy and in the year 2246 Jonathan followed right behind him, entering into security training. Two years into his academy training his sister would join them declaring for the engineering track, all three Walking Bear siblings together again. While the trio did not see much of each other due to their classes and differences in years, they did make a point to get together when possible weekly to support one another as a family. By the time Jonathan left the academy in 2350, his older brother was already a year and a half into his first assignment and his sister had only two years left until she graduated. |
